And finally, here’s a copy of the poem by our friend Jason Myers who read at the dinner:

A Farm

What moves us is not always

what we think

moves us.

After night’s undressed, folded its dark garments for another occasion

the ground responds singing.

Its singing is a shining. Its shining is an imitation of sun.

song, sun, song.

What can the body know

of its body?

That it needs

water, voluptuous, saffron

That it likes

darkness, song, pottery

That it loves

fig, fire, poetry

Find a piece of land

find a peace of land

find a body

that knows

its land

here the cover crops

the sunflowers

the sweet william

That it finds

similar, onion, yam

That it makes

ordinary, squash, blackberry
